ホンモノの富裕層に会った

He was a great guy.
The gentleman seated next to me in the flight from New York to Brussels was an individual investor. He owned and managed a company of label printing, sold his stocks and moved to Malta, a tax haven, two years ago, though he is a Belgian, and then finally started a new life as an investor. It is a typical life style of wealthy people, though I am not sure how rich he exactly is.
What a coincidence. He loved to invest in publicly-traded bio-tech companies (e.g. NASDAQ-listed companies), though he did not have any scientific background. I am investing in earlier stage bio-tech in private, and he is investing in later stage bio-tech in public. The only difference was development stage of target company.
His strategy was unique. His targets were bio-tech companies conducting clinical trials, and a few months before announcement of the result of such a clinical trial. Generally speaking, stock price would jump up immediately after an announcement that a certain clinical trial was successful, and vice versa. When he predicted a successful result by his very special approach (this approach is a secret, though he told me in a low voice), he invested in the target company. Then, a few months later, he obtained a large capital gain. He was repeating it, and increasing his assets more and more. Very smart approach. Incredibly smart.
I felt like that I learned why he could become rich. There is a significant difference between thought of the rich and thought of the poor.
